Barbara Kadletz

Barbara Kadletz, born in 1981, lives and works as a bookseller in Vienna. When she's not selling other people's books, she's writing her own or she's talking about literature—as a moderator, reviewer, or on her weekly blog, "Das Buch zum Wochenende." Her novels "Im Ruin" (In Ruin) and "Schattenkühle" (Shady Coolness), and most recently the graphic novel "Schlurfkatzen" (Slouchy Cats), have been published by Edition Atelier.

Schlurfkatzen

Little known today is the youth resistance against National Socialism, which didn't arise from programs or manifestos, but from music, clothing, gestures, and the unwavering will to self-determination. With the graphic novel "Schlurfkatzen," a fictional biography of a woman from 1942, author Barbara Kadletz and illustrator Jorghi Poll bring this extraordinary Viennese resistance story into the spotlight.
